The Ganesha mudra comes from the Hindu elephant god Ganesh. This mudra is believed to invoke his energy as the remover of obstacles. When you practice the Ganesha mudra it is said that it can bring on self-esteem and self-confidence. It is also said that it provides the courage to overcome anything that is holding us back.
How to practice the Ganesha Mudra:
start in prayer position with your hands
swivel your hands while keeping them together so that the fingertips are pointing towards the opposite elbow.
the right palm faces the body and the left faces out
slide the hands back until the fingers lock and grasp each other
thumbs rest on opposite pinkies
hand stay at the level of the heart as they energetically pulled apart without releasing the grasp
the arms position across the chest with elbows wide is symbolic of the notion that our biggest obstacle is often ourselves
The Ganesha mudra is considered to be energetically strengthening, both physically and mentally.
Emotionally:
boosts self-esteem and self-confidence
cultivates a sense of inner power
develops the courage to approach life with an open heart
